It depends on the company. Procore suits commercial general contractors running large projects with many parties. Buildertrend and JobTread suit home builders and remodelers. Fieldwire is the cheapest way to get drawings and tasks on site, and Contractor Foreman packs the most features into a low price. If your problem is job costs and margin rather than site admin, Planyard sits on top of QuickBooks or Xero and tracks budgets, committed costs, change orders and forecasts per job.
Published prices in October 2026: Contractor Foreman from $49 a month billed annually, Knowify from $99, Houzz Pro from $99, JobTread from $159 a month billed annually ($199 monthly), Buildern from $225, Buildertrend from $499 a month, Fieldwire from $39 per user per month billed annually, Autodesk Forma Build from $100 per user per month, and Planyard from $105 per project manager per month with accounting sync ($52 for estimating only). Procore quotes on request.
Fieldwire has a free Basic plan for up to five users and three projects, covering plans, tasks, files, photos and checklists. Houzz Pro has a free plan with a 3D floor planner, estimates and invoicing. Most other tools offer a trial instead: 30 days for Contractor Foreman and Houzz Pro’s paid plans, 14 days for Planyard, 7 days for Buildern.
Buildertrend bought CoConstruct in 2021 and is moving CoConstruct customers onto the Buildertrend platform. If you are on CoConstruct today, compare Buildertrend with JobTread and the other residential tools on this list before you migrate.
For a few small jobs, yes, using projects or classes. QuickBooks does not track committed costs from purchase orders and subcontracts, change orders against a contract, or a forecast final cost per job, so most contractors add a construction tool on top and keep QuickBooks for bookkeeping, payroll and taxes.
Procore is built for commercial general contractors and owners: drawings, RFIs, submittals and project financials, priced on annual construction volume with unlimited users. Buildertrend is built for home builders and remodelers: sales, proposals, client portal, schedules and job costing, from $499 a month.
